Acoustic Mapping of Submerged Stone Age Sites—A HALD Approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

Acoustic response from lithics knapped by humans has been demonstrated to facilitate effective detection of submerged Stone Age sites exposed on the seafloor or embedded within its sediments. This phenomenon recently enabled non-invasive several hitherto unknown sites, as well registration acoustic responses already known localities. Investigation acoustic-response characteristics lithics, which appear not be replicated in naturally cracked lithic pieces (geofacts), is presently on-going through laboratory experiments and finite element (FE) modelling high-resolution 3D-scanned pieces. Experimental work also being undertaken, employing chirp sub-bottom systems (reflection seismic) marine areas inland water bodies. Fieldwork yielded positive results this initial stage development an optimised Human-Altered Lithic Detection (HALD) method for mapping sites. paper reviews maritime archaeological perspectives promising approach, potentially facilitates new improved practice, summarizes existing data, reports present state development. Its focus reflection seismics such, but a useful resonance induced use seismic systems.

Approach and Medical Management of Urinary Tract Stone in Children

Kidney stone disease has become more common in children, but it remains non diagnosed in a significant proportion of patients, due to a lack of notable signs and symptoms. All children with colicky abdominal pain or microscopic hematuria should be examined thoroughly for urolithiasis. Patients’ histories in terms of family, medical, and drug and a thorough physical examination are require...

Stone Age Distributed Computing ( Extended

A new model that depicts a network of randomized finite state machines operating in an asynchronous environment is introduced. This model, that can be viewed as a hybrid of the message passing model and cellular automata is suitable for applying the distributed computing lens to the study of networks of sub-microprocessor devices, e.g., biological cellular networks and man-made nano-networks. A...

A support vector approach to the acoustic-to-articulatory mapping

We report work on mapping the acoustic speech signal, parametrized using Mel Frequency Cepstral Analysis, onto electromagnetic articulography trajectories from the MOCHA database. We employ the machine learning technique of Support Vector Regression, contrasting previous works that applied Neural Networks to the same task. Our results are comparable to those older attempts, even though, due to ...

Non-Acoustic Detection Of Moving Submerged Bodies In Ocean

Although, acoustic techniques are currently the mainstay for detection and tracking of submerged bodies like submarine and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), advent of silent submarines and the ensuing reduction of acoustic signatures and development of anechoic coatings is making detection very difficult especially in shallow water environment. Though there are some promising non-acoustic t...
